FX Commentary – 22Feb
The US Dollar edged slightly lower against its major rivals as traders were still waiting for clues as to when the Fed will start raising interest rates in the US. Bernanke is scheduled to be talking on Wednesday and Thursday, so there may be a degree of caution until we can get some clarity on future interest rate policy.
CPI rose less than expected on Friday.
Billionaire Hedge Fund manager George Soros wrote in this morning’s Financial Times that the Eurozone have fundamental problems in its set up, citing a single monetary union but multiple political sovereignties.
Kate Barker confirmed on Friday that she would be leaving the Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee.
